FAPS - Fayetteville Animal Protection Society

The mission of Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, Inc. (FAPS) is to provide a licensed, No-Kill shelter for homeless animals until adopted into a loving and caring lifetime environment; to reduce the population of stray animals, and to promote responsible pet ownership. Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, Inc. (FAPS) is the only Cumberland County No-Kill, non-profit animal shelter supported by volunteers, grants, and individual contributions. FAPS receives no state or federal funding to operate and relies solely on the community to support its mission in rescuing and successfully placing companion animals in their forever homes.

Volunteer Qualifications:

• Volunteers must be 16+ to walk dogs without adult supervision

• Volunteers ages 16 –17 years old must have a parent/guardian sign a consent form and a parent must accompany the volunteer on the day of orientation. 

• Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes, preferably comfortable sneakers. We suggest you wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty!

• Volunteers must commit to at least 4 hours per month and commit to volunteer for at least 3 months (for exceptions to this or questions, please still apply and note this in your application; we still want your help!)

• Volunteers must be able and willing to follow procedures for the safety of the animals, the public, volunteers and staff.

• All Volunteers must attend an orientation and complete necessary training before volunteering.
